Last spring, we organized and hosted our second annual ALS Walk n' Roll. This annual event benefits ALS of Michigan, a non-profit organization based in Southfield, which raises money to care for people with ALS as well as to conduct research the cause and cure of the debilitating disease. Last year, Michigan Alpha raised over $7,000 while this year we exceeded our ambitious goals by raising $10,000.
I split the house into five different committees, spanning from marketing to Greek houses and student groups on campus, to organizing the logistics of the walk and lining up sponsors. We co-hosted the event with Pi Beta Phi sorority on March 31 at the Sports Coliseum on Hill Street, and had a great turnout. The walk was a great success this year, and hopefully will continue to grow in the future. I wish to offer a special thanks to the ten alums who contributed a total of $1,465 to this fundraiser.
